Make new friends – on the mat!
We all want to have fun, and our classes at Millcreek Karate are a great place to meet new people and socialize. Of course, the study of martial arts is an individual pursuit. When you earn a new belt, you’re the one wearing it – not the whole class.
But that doesn’t mean that there’s no room for socializing and meeting new people in our classrooms. In fact, the opposite is true. When adults take a martial arts class with us, they come in knowing they already have something in common with their classmates: martial arts!
With a nice icebreaker like that, it doesn’t take long for them to find other things in common. They share stories about their kids and their jobs – and many of them form friendships that will last them the rest of their lives.
As an adult, it can be difficult to make new friends. We get wrapped up in our jobs and family responsibilities and we sometimes lose sight of our need to socialize and meet people.
That can all change when you hit the mat with us. Arrive a few minutes early for class and as you warm up, you’ll have a chance to chat with your fellow students. I love it when I walk into the classroom and see students talking and laughing together.
You never know. Your new best friend (or hiking companion or dancing partner) could be waiting for you in class!
