Welcome to Millcreek Karate
by: Ellie Wagner
There is a place in Erie, Pennsylvania called Millcreek Karate and I go there. In fact I just got back from Millcreek Karate about an hour ago. We don’t actually do karate we do taekwondo but can you imagine “Millcreek Taekwondo.” (Ha Ha Ha!!)
My friends and I in my class are either orange or yellow belts, but me personally I am a yellow belt. The 3rd highest belt level, a 7th grade yellow belt. My instructors are amazing, Mr.Wokutch the main instructor, Mrs.Wokutch the “desk” instructor, Mr.Thompson the assistant instructor, and Ms.Snyder another assistant instructor.
This is for Millcreek Karate and all of the new students, this is my introduction story to make a Millcreek Karate learning experience. Maybe a book, another subcategory connected to this story
What to expect at Millcreek Karate
“What should I expect when I join a karate class?” You should expect your first class to be a “private” class. You might have your first class in a different class then you will be joining. In your private class you will learn
easy-to-remember blocks, kicks or/and strikes. You normally would learn some self defence and probably a front kick. Very likely to learn a high block, maybe a muscle block, and maybe a low block. Then get more advanced as you go, one thing I learned “It never gets easier, you just get better.”
In Millcreek Karate
“What does Millcreek Karate look like?” Millcreek Karate has “COURAGE” “HONOR” “RESPECT” wood “posters” inside. The door has a Millcreek Karate logo on it and above it. Right next to the door there is a piece of tape with measures on it so you can measure how tall you are, 4ft to 7ft. On the other side of the door is a picture of a karate black belt on a Discipline poster. You will know where the dojang (dojo for taekwondo) is when you see it. The huge room to the right from the door is the dojang. Right behind the dojang is a bench with slots to put shoes in. All around are tables and a little table with a chess/checkers board.
The desk is in the middle, back of the room with two doors that are offices next to it. You will see the men’s bathroom easily on the left side. There are two drinking fountains and a coat hanger next to the women’s bathroom.
What events happen at Millcreek Karate
“What kind of public events happen at karate?” There is a lot that goes on at Millcreek Karate. Because there is class only four days a week, it seems like a lot in a day/week. For orange belts they have a day to get a sonjabong (nunchucks) camp and get sonjabongs. For yellow belts we have a certain amount of time to get sparring gear.
Then we just have events like karate easter eggs, birthday parties, and a lot more. Oh!! And event for you to get signed up.
What can happen at Millcreek Karate
“Can you make a story as Millcreek Karate as a setting?” Yes, that is exactly what I’ll do now…..
Once in Erie, Pennsylvania a man was creating a place called Millcreek Karate and his name was Jason Wokutch. He ran the building with his wife Aimee Wokutch. Some of the four first students were Hayden M, Harper M, Ellie W, and Maggie W. When Millcreek Karate opened there was two assistant instructors Tori Snyder and Elijah Thompson. Then they opened more classes which meant more assistant instructors. One named Emily Senita who has two kids, a green belt and a camo belt.
That’s all from Millcreek Karate
That is all this story has to offer I hope you come and join karate classes to have the same wonderful experience as I have had.
Mr.Wokutch and Mrs.Wokutch would be happy to greet you and teach you whatever you would like to know ,thank you.
